Sawhorses is a project for RikRak by Constantin Eich, developed during an internship, focusing on the creation of functional and durable workshop sawhorses. The goal was to design a system that adapts to different working situations in the workshop. Two versions were developed: a higher model for working standing with flat objects, and a lower model for working with taller objects. The sawhorses are also designed to be stackable, allowing them to be easily nested for compact and convenient storage when not in use.

The sawhorses feature a clear, easy-to-understand construction that ensures both stability and intuitive use. Inspired by the AA-Stool from Ishinomaki Laboratory, the design emphasizes a simple and honest approach, making the material and construction visible.

A central part of the design is the deliberate replaceability of worn elements. Special interchangeable slats with a plug-in system were created, which can be replaced if they are cut during work or soiled during painting or oiling. This not only extends the sawhorses' lifespan but also encourages a sustainable and practical approach to workshop furniture. The project combines functional robustness, clear design, and a strong focus on practical usability in everyday workshop work.
